I am pleased to highlight that our provincial government is investing $84 million to support key infrastructure projects in municipalities outside Winnipeg.
This investment includes one-time funding of up to $39.9 million that will be distributed to all municipalities outside of Winnipeg on a per capita basis. The funds will be provided through the annual strategic infrastructure basket that is available to municipalities residing outside of Winnipeg.
Through the new Municipal Economic Development Infrastructure Program, incremental funding of up to $44.5 million will be available to municipalities in 2023-24. The program will support strategic infrastructure projects focused on economic development, renewal, and innovation, including critical projects that improve public safety such as roads, bridges and active transportation; inter-modal transportation such as airports; and solid waste management and organic diversion.
I know many constituents are concerned about the status of Highway 12 and PR 210, and I want to assure you all that funds are being set aside to make the necessary changes required to improve this intersection and make it a safer and better stretch of road.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact my constituency office.
