I hope you’re all having a lovely summer so far, and that you’ve been able to get out and enjoy the nice weather as well as to participate in some of the many exciting events taking place this season.
I’d like to take a moment to highlight and thank all of the organizers and volunteers who put on these community events. Without your hard work, endless hours, and dedication, these community festivals, parades, fairs, markets, etc., would not be possible. Thank you for spreading joy in our communities and bringing us together.
On the topic of community initiatives, I am incredibly disappointed to share the NDP government’s decision to cut the Arts, Culture and Sport in Community (ACSC) grant program. ACSC grants provided funding and support to local organizations so that they can continue their important work of bettering our communities.
These grants went towards community development projects, events, and museums, just to name a few, all of which are designed to bring people together. The Ste. Anne Curling Club and Bibliothèque Ste. Anne Library are some of the many organizations supported by ACSC over the years. By cutting this grant program, the NDP have further shown that they are not committed to bringing Manitobans together, nor do they care about bettering our communities, particularly outside the Perimeter.
Our PC Team will continue to hold the NDP government accountable for their actions, and as your MLA, I will continue to advocate for you and make sure that your concerns and voices are being heard.
