September is officially here, which means fall is right around the corner. I hope you all had a fantastic summer and that you were able to get out and take part in some of the local events around the community, enjoy the lovely weather before the cold kicks in, spend time with friends and family, and just take some time to relax.
I look forward to seeing what exciting things are in store as we head into fall.
In other news, it was announced that $5 million from the province will be going towards funding the new Taché Community Centre in Lorette. Our previous PC government was happy to provide over $3 million of this funding for the new community centre, which the former NDP government neglected for nearly two decades. Immediately following the election, I sent a letter to the Minister asking that the NDP follow through on their commitment to the residents of the Taché area. While it’s disappointing that the NDP contributed less than half of the amount they promised, I am pleased that the community will finally be receiving this exciting and important addition.
The new Taché Community Centre will include an arena with audience seating, a library, a multi-purpose space for seniors, and a two-lane walking track, as well as meeting, conference, and media rooms. The centre is expected to begin construction this November, with its completion anticipated to be in the summer of 2026.
Recreation centres and arenas are an integral part of any community, but especially rural communities. As your MLA, I will continue to advocate on your behalf, ensure that your voice is being heard, and make sure that the constituents of Dawson Trail are receiving their fair share from the current government.
